SLAUGHTER IT.

This is my model Ms. Claressa Slaughter. Working with flash photography is pretty bittersweet. It's difficult at first setting up the correct lighting, setting the shutter speed according to where the model is, and knowing where to put the reflector boards where to create the lighting you want. To get the models' shadow I took off the cover on the light which creates the flash. From here I was trying to get movement shots to show off the clothes in a dramatic/action way that could be appealing to those who are active. By having her extend her arms and legs you can see the clothes laid out perfectly. My favorite part is how the skirt flows in that position and her arms look good.
The most frustrating part was the printing process. It took about 5 prints to get the perfect one, some partly due to exposed photo paper, but the others were careless mistakes like putting the paper in the mixer for too long. Other then that this is the finished product.
To me this was the perfect shot because in the others she either had a weird face or her body wasn't positioned the right way to show off the clothes. What I don't like about it is that her legs blend in with the background so it seems as if the photo is too bright but my main concern was the clothes and I didn't want them to look too dark so I guess she'll have invisible legs.
Finding the right lighting was important in this activity, in my negs some shots were darker or lighter than others, so next time I'll work on the lighting as well as the positions of my models.
The End.

Thing S and Thing 5

This is the watercolor picture. I used a whiteboard for my background to get a good effect for lighting. I like how the shadow behind me creates another person in a sense making it 3 people in the picture. My face isn't truly defined but because of the lighting you can see the different contrasts that can make out the figures in my face. I picked the letter S and the number 5 because from far away they look like they're the same thing. Since my photo deals with doubles I thought that the number and letter should correspond with each other too. I made them brown to blend in with my shirt so the audience would have to squint to find it, which makes it more interesting. Reminds me of Thing 1 and Thing 2 from the Dr. Suess books, except it's Thing S and Thing 5.
The End.
